Hej!I'm a student of EC Law at Uppsala University, Sweden. In this period of transition, while Euro is being adopted by the EU memeber states, the position of Swden remains unclear.
Since Sweden doesn't have any explicit submission to the Maastricht Treaty, is its standing outside Euro-zone fully legal? Why? And if Sweden does not use Euro, could a member state citizen (ex. some french men) insist on paying in Euro in a normal Swedish shop?
And if so, would there be a fixed exchange rate required?
Otherwise, could they appeal to the free movement of capitals (art. 56 EC Treaty)?
If this is not your specialty, could you advise me on other sources of information?
Thanks
